How to Store Wedding Sparklers

Many of our customers like to plan ahead and buy their wedding sparklers well in advance of the big day. You needn’t worry about the safety of storing bulk wedding sparklers for short durations of time. Unlike Independence Day display fireworks, wedding sparklers contain very little combustible material and will not ignite without a flame of some kind. Even in 135-degree Texas weather, we have never had an issue with sparkler storage.

We recommend storing sparklers in a cool, dry place, such as in a garage inside a sealed storage bag, plastic tote, or air-tight vacuum seal to keep them free from moisture. In a pinch, tying them inside a grocery bag may suffice. Just be sure to keep the sparklers out of reach from curious children.

How to Store Leftover Wedding Sparklers for Years

Perhaps your big day has come and gone, and you're wondering if you can reuse the leftovers for New Year's, Mardi Gras festivals, or Independence Day.

For long-term storage, consider placing your wedding sparklers in a basement with a dehumidifier running and maintaining a relative humidity around 35%. This will keep the product dry enough to work and moist enough to hold together as designed. Use a tightly-sealing storage container with a packet of silica gel desiccant that absorbs moisture.

How to Store Sparklers for Travel

If you’re traveling by air, keep in mind that — out of an abundance of caution — most airlines will not let you fly with packages of sparklers for wedding events, even if you planned to check your luggage.

  • The best way to organize a sparkler send-off for a destination wedding is to buy sparklers online and have them shipped directly to your venue coordinator.
  • If you’re traveling by car, the sparklers will be safe packed in a sealed container in the trunk.

How to Store Smokeless Wedding Sparklers at Your Event

Another consideration is how to store and display smokeless wedding sparklers at your event itself. Most couples opt for metal sparkler display buckets, which can be placed at the reception table next to the guest book or on each table as a centerpiece. These buckets can also be filled with water or sand to ensure proper extinguishment and disposal after the sparkler festivities are finished.
